Dragon Lady Down
Shooting a dead-stick, night IFR approach through a low cloud cover to an unfamiliar airstrip which is too short for your aircraft is a pilot's worst nightmare. In 1959, Taiwanese Air Force exchange pilot Major Hsichun "Mike" Hua did it in a U-2, arguably the most difficult-to-land plane ever built. With a lot of skill, a little luck, and a bit of seat cushion in his colon, he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross for pulling it off.
