Psychohistorical

Asimov's Foundation series is in development at HBO. I'm skeptical, but then HBO did a pretty good job with A Game of Thrones, (though they porked the follow-on books). Even so, Foundation is true "hard" sci-fi; the concept of psychohistory is... uniquely mind-bending. Essentially, psychohistory is Asmiov's hypothesis that through proper and rigorous application of statistical mathematics, sociology, psychology and history, one may predict the distant future with precision and even shape its outcome. As I said, pretty far out there.

Additionally, most of Asimov's works are deliberately non-violent. The hallmark of an Asimovian protagonist is that he uses his brains rather than his guns to solve problems. Given that context, it's far from certain HBO can find a viable audience among modern television viewers -- at least not without dumbing it down a lot. We shall see.

Hmmm this is one of those moment where I am both greatly excited and horrified simultaneously.
