I'm not so clear on the distinction between a religion and a cult.. it seems to be determined mostly by the relative number of members.
However, I do not recognize any "religion" that recruits via death threats as valid. "Convert or die" is NOT a legitimate method to gain believers. Professions of faith predicated on the threat of beheading are no more valid than confessions of crimes gained through torture.

Islam is not a religion by definition because it cannot have any true believers. "Freedom of religion" does not apply to group of thugs that with no respect for the inherent rights of life and liberty.
