The Chicago Way

Chicago is a war zone, with 29 shot over the past weekend. Those draconian gun control laws are working wonderfully, huh? I can't help but note that if we were to encourage all of the Blue cities to pass similar laws, the problem would eventually solve itself.

I still think John Carpenter had the right idea in Escape from New York: wall off the entire city and throw all the criminals inside to do as they please. We could even turn it into a revenue generator by selling some "air conditioned safaris." A thousand bucks a day gets you a sniper rifle and all the ammo you can burn through. High scores automatically posted to Facebook.

Every time I hear someone try to use an individual tragedy like a school shooting to justify gun control, I like to point out that such a tragedy takes place EVERY MONTH in cities with the strictest gun control. It takes the wind right out of their sails. Then I like to point out that these shootings almost always take place in a "gun free zone", at which point I am careful to step back and avoid the debris of their head exploding.
