So many of the stories from that generation are not going to be told. These men and women are dying out. One of my grandfathers was a SeaBee, in fact from the very unit that some of the plot from "The Fighting SeaBees" was taken, and a champion swimmer. He's not here to tell his story anymore. Another Grandfather was a POW in Germany, again, not here to tell his story. I knew a man who was one of Patton's drivers, and a woman who was a WAC, neither of whom are alive to tell their story.
Americans fought and died to stop the spread of tyranny, and the deeds are now long forgotten. Relegated to the revisionists history books.
Great quote I saw on the internet. "We reduced Japan to a pile of radioactive smoking rubble in 1,346 days. It's now Day 1,355 and, despite promises to do likewise to the healthcare system, they're still working on it. The FDR administration built almost a hundred working aircraft carriers faster than the Obama administration has managed to build one working website."
