Light Bridges
Closing in on an optical data bridge. The article is long and a bit technical, but the upshot is that the whitecoats and eggheads are getting very close to making practical onboard optical data transmission links between the CPU, GPU, memory, etc. The silicon-based bridges are where the bottlenecks occur in modern computers. It's similar to having a supercharged V-8 and a tunable racing suspension on your car, but the transmission is from a 1985 Yugo. Laser-based bridges are like a Powerglide for your computer.
