Thursday Tunes

While most people are familiar with the mainstream Irish folk band The Chieftans, surprisingly few have heard of Silly Wizard, their Scottish* opposite number. Silly Wizard was, in my opinion, the greatest folk band ever to cut an album, and "The Queen of Argyll" their best song.

* - Or "Scots," as it's popularly styled these days. Or, if you're English, "those annoying people to the north."

Good song. Ramblin' Rover was always one of my favorites (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOlaF0zTzU0)

Thank goodness for MP3s, I wore my original Silly Wizard tapes long ago. BTW. Andy Stewart did some fairly good solo work after Silly Wizard too.
