The War

A two-part photo-essay from The Atlantic, showcasing some truly remarkable photographs from the U.S. Civil War. Some of them are famous, but many have rarely been seen.

This is the 150th Pennsylvania encamped in Virginia shortly before the Battle of Chancellorsville, (there's a higher-resolution version at the link):

That scene will look eerily familiar if you've seen the excellent movie Gods and Generals. And if you haven't seen the movie, go watch it immediately; Stephen Lang's portrayal of Stonewall Jackson is exemplary.
