Elected Oafs

Jerry Pournelle once said of politicians: "The primary problem with democracy is that the qualifications to get the job aren't the same as the qualifications to do the job well." In other words the wealthy, smooth-talking, power-hungry idiots are most likely to be elected. The further up the political food chain you go, the more pronounced the effect.

With that in mind, here is a compendium of dumb laws from across the country. A sample from my home state:

When two trains meet each other at a railroad crossing, each shall come to a full stop, and neither shall proceed until the other has gone.

That's what we call a Texican Standoff.

Go find out what kind of useless laws the power-hungry morons in your state have produced -- and remember: you paid them to do it.

Hat-tip to Jeff W.
