NASA's new mission?

I mean, you can't make this stuff up
Screw exploring space, we got better things to do.

NASA Administrator Charles Bolden said in a recent interview that his "foremost" mission as the head of America's space exploration agency is to improve relations with the Muslim world.

Now, the dumbest sentence ever uttered on the planet.

He said better interaction with the Muslim world would ultimately advance space travel.

So, the pseudo-politicoreligion of peace, whose last big invention has been homicide bombers and billionaire dictators, is going to help us advance space travel? I see a way we can cut 19 billion from the budget today. What a sad end to one of the few government programs that actually did what it was supposed to and under budget.

Like all big government agencies, NASA has become bloated and inefficient. It's the natural trend of any government entity, because the teat issues forth a never-ending stream of taxpayer money.

It won't stop (in the case of NASA) until the monster is reduced to a regulatory-only agency and orbital space is thrown wide open for commercial development. Until then, our tax money will continue to pour down the black holes at the various space centers around the country.
