Overwhelm the System
This is probably correct... unfortunately.
We can slow the process this November, and maybe for a decade after. But as the brilliant Margaret Thatcher once said, "The ratchet of big government tightens to the left. We can only slip it to the right to forestall the inevitable."
"The inevitable" in this case is an entitlement state, followed by mass socialization of the economy, despotism, and -- eventually -- the final, lingering death of the Republic. Oh, it'll take decades, but it will almost certainly happen. It's the price we'll pay for letting everyone with a pulse cast a vote. The Constitution was written the way it was for a very good reason; we have tinkered with it at our peril. Math is an unforgiving master, and we've thumbed our noses at it once too often.
Most of the readers of this blog are in my age group. We will likely be dead or in the throes of senility, safely ensconced in a state-run nursing home, before the final phases occur. But pity the children being born today; they will never know the America we grew up in -- and perhaps it's for the best that they'll be none the wiser.
On that happy note, it's time for another visit to my local peddler of liquid brain anesthetic. Cheers!
