Welcome to the Island

Feds wanna watch your weight

(CNSNews.com) - A bill introduced this month in Congress would put the federal and state governments in the business of tracking how fat, or skinny, American children are.

So who is the lead food Nazi?

The Healthy Choices Act--introduced by Rep. Ron Kind (D-Wis.), a member of the House Ways and Means Committee--would establish and fund a wide range of programs and regulations aimed at reducing obesity rates by such means as putting nutritional labels on the front of food products, subsidizing businesses that provide fresh fruits and vegetables, and collecting BMI measurements of patients and counseling those that are overweight or obese.

For those who don't know, "The Island" was a mediocre Sci-Fi flick, but is becoming almost too real when it comes to the control the establishment wants on our lives. Every portion of the Clones lives were monitored and controlled including what they could eat and how much they must exercise. A bill that monitors a thing is not far away from controlling that thing.

The thing that I always find interesting is that when Liberals are talking freedom, they really only seem to be talking about the freedom to have an abortion, euthanize your sick parents when care for them becomes inconvenient, or who or what you can have sex with. Other than those "freedoms" they want to tell you what car to drive, where you can live and how big the place you live can be, what habits are "approved" and what you can eat. Now they want to make a law controlling your food intake. Monitoring is just a baby step away from legislating and controlling.

Gee, a Democrat proposed it. Shocked, I am.

Tyranny starts with a mindset. The modern American liberal shares bedsheets with the likes of Mao Zedong and Josef Stalin. Only methods differ; the willingness of opportunistic politicians to exploit the good intentions of the ignorant and gullible is a universal constant.
