The politicians sold us out years ago. They could care less about border enforcement. Borders are bad for business, and that's bad for lobbyists, which is bad for the politicians' bank accounts.
George III did much the same: taxed the colonies outrageously and ignored their repeated requests for security and fair hearing of their grievances, all while he stuffed his pockets with colonial profits. That didn't work out so well for him. The current crop of thieves, liars and con-men on Capitol Hill would do well to remember that lesson -- before they are forced to re-learn it the hard way.
