Party allegience pledges
Ohio may persue prosecution of Republican party switchers
The article is about how Rush Limbaugh encouraged Republicans to switch to Democrat for one day to vote in Dem. Primary and affect the outcome of the presidentail primaries, and how Democrats now want to prosecute the Republicans and Rush for this "voter fraud". That is not why I am posting it here, this is:
Swear party allegience? You know who else demanded you swear party allegience? The Nazis, Soviet Russia, and Saddam Hussein, not to mention probably every other tin hat Dictator out there. Go to jail and a fine for expressing your first amendment rights? This law does not pass the smell test.

Will county officials go after the ringleaders of apparently illegal electioneering where thousands of Republican voters swore -- under penalty of law -- allegiance to the Democratic Party in order to vote for Hillary Clinton? What Limbaugh encouraged Republican voters to do in Ohio was a fifth-degree felony in that state, punishable with a $2,500 fine and six to 12 months in jail. That is because in order to change party affiliation in Ohio, voters have to fill out a form swearing allegiance to that party's principles "under penalty of election falsification."

That's one of the many problems with open primaries, which is the dumbest political idea since direct popular election of the executive... which was the dumbest idea since giving non-landowners the vote... which was... Well, you get the idea.
The Republic is dead. I don't know what this joke of a political system we've got left is called; populist idiocracy, perhaps. It's certainly not a republic anymore.
