Texas "Honor" killings

I have read this story and then spent most of the morning looking for more information. So far this is the only national site carrying it. The rest have plenty on Brittney Spears being drunk again, but nothiing on this.

Yaser Abdel Said, 50, of the Dallas suburb of Lewisville, is accused of shooting Sarah Yaser Said, 17, and Amina Yaser Said, 18, in his taxi Tuesday night and abandoning it in a parking lot, leaving them to die.

It is believed that he killed his daughters because they were dating non-muslims. So to protect their "honor", they had to die. He emmigrated here from Egypt, considered a moderate Muslim country.
When are people going to realize that Islam is a religion that is contrary to all Western ideals? Women are seen as property to be done with and treated however you like. There is no freedom of expression in Muslim countries. It is the only religion where it is ok to kill anyone that converts from Islam. In Taliban Afghanistan it was illegal to be anything but a Muslim.
Does this sound like a religion that is tolerant of others and we just don't understand them? I think not.
