Star Trek 2008

Saw this
Looks as if they are recasting the old characters (Kirk, Spock, etc) Could be good, could be bad. Hoping Hollywood doesn't screw it up too much.

This movie will be different from the last 4 installments since Rick Berman has reportedly left Star Trek thanks to a new president of Paramount at the wheel. And here is the official link for the trailer from Paramount for said movie:

I am extremely skeptical. Looking at the cast photos on IMDB, I can see where most of them bear enough resemblance to the original cast where sufficient make up might pass them off visually, but actually playing the characters is a whole 'nother can of Regulan bloodworms.

I still believe they'd have been better served going pure CGI -- a la "Final Fantasy" -- with avatars created from the original cast members. Nobody asked me, however.

I just hope it's not as embarrassingly bad as ST:V. Or Voyager... or Deep Space Nine... or pretty much everything since 1968, come to think of it.

TNG wasn't terrible. Mostly. It did get pretty bad after Roddenberry died and the lemmings at Paramount took over "conceptualization" of the series.

Still doesn't live up to the original, though... except when they did Klingon-centric episodes, of course. Klingons are cool. They understand the most important lesson of life: There is no problem which cannot be resolved by proper application of sufficient violence.

They're kinda like jarheads, only not as ugly. =D
