Fat Rats

Fat people rule:

The world now has more overweight people than hungry ones and governments should design economic strategies to influence national diets, a conference of international experts have heard.

So I suppose we'll stop seeing all those "save the starving children" irrita-mercials on the television. Right?

"For instance, if we charge money for every calorie of soft drink and fruit drink that was consumed, people would consume less of it.

"If we subsidise fruit and vegetable production, people would consume more of it and we would have a healthier diet," [said University of Minnesota professor Benjamin Senauer.]

Tax it! That's always the answer with the ivory tower lefties. Because it's worked so well with tobacco and alcohol, hasn't it?

The only thing sin taxes ever accomplish is the transfer of power and money from the private sector to the government. Problem is, benighted simpletons like Mr. Senauer actually believe that's a good thing.
